Holy Week Special: Alay Lakad Service
In the peaceful town of Calabanga, Camarines Sur, Holy Week holds a special significance for everyone as devotees gather for the annual Alay Lakad pilgrimage, paying homage to the revered Black Nazarene. This year, Mu Eta Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega joins in on the festivities, teaming up with Delta Pi Chapter and MACUAPO Pili AA to serve the faithful at this sacred event.
For Mu Eta Chapter, participating in the Alay Lakad was more than just an opportunity for service; it was a chance to live out the values of unity, compassion, and brotherhood that Alpha Phi Omega was founded upon. The members were eager to make a positive impact and show their support to the local community.
As the day of the Alay Lakad arrived, Mu Eta Chapter members, along with their brothers and sisters from Delta Pi Chapter and MACUAPO Pili AA, gathered at the starting point, ready to serve the devotees with kindness and warmth. They prepared a delicious dish of Bihon, lovingly prepared by volunteers from all three organizations, to offer sustenance to those on their spiritual journey.
Throughout the procession, Mu Eta Chapter members found themselves immersed in the heart of the action, working tirelessly to distribute servings of Bihon to the devotees. Despite the heat of the sun and the crowds of people, their spirits remained high as they diligently carried out their duties with dedication and humility.
For Mu Eta Chapter, the Alay Lakad was an unforgettable experience, a testament to the power of unity and solidarity in times of need. Standing shoulder to shoulder with their fellow brothers and sisters, they felt a deep sense of belonging and purpose, knowing that they were making a tangible difference in the lives of those they served.
As the day came to a close and the last serving of Bihon was distributed, Mu Eta Chapter members took a moment to reflect on the significance of their participation in the Alay Lakad. It was a humbling experience, a reminder of the impact that small acts of kindness can have on the lives of others, and a testament to the enduring spirit of Alpha Phi Omega.
As they said their goodbyes to the devotees and put away their trays, the members of Mu Eta Chapter carried with them the memories of a day filled with faith, fellowship, and service. The Alay Lakad may have been initiated by Delta Pi Chapter, but for Mu Eta Chapter, it was a journey of unity, compassion, and brotherhood.
Here’s to Mu Eta Chapter’s journey of service – a shining example of the values that define Alpha Phi Omega. Long live Mu Eta Chapter!
To all the brothers and sisters who participated in the Alay Lakad, we salute you! May your dedication and spirit of service continue to inspire others for years to come.
