Mu Eta Chapter’s 27th Anniversary Service
MU ETA Chapter Celebrates Legacy of Service at Casa Miani
Casa Miani—a haven of hope, love, and care for parentless children at Bolo Sipocot, Camarines Sur—is, in itself, the birthplace for a child where each grows up in the comfort of hope, assistance, and belonging amidst the trials of life. Our journey of service started on the 25th day of November 2023, as our chapter celebrated its anniversary by giving back to others. The theme for our celebration was, “Share the Warmth: A Leader and a Friend on Service.” We came to make a difference in the lives of the children at Casa Miani.
As we arrived at Casa Miani, the faces of eager children greeted us. Their eyes were sparkling from curiosity and hope. Looking at them, we were reminded of the innocence and strength that each and every one of them had.
Our day of service began with a simple yet heartfelt gesture: free school supplies to the children. We saw their eyes light up with excitement as they realized that they will be able to pursue their dreams and aspirations equipped with notebooks and pencils.
Next, we distributed free slippers. Those little feet were given comfort and protection for the challenges they had to endure every day. A simple pair of slippers represents so much more than just footwear for them: dignity, security, and the hope of a brighter future.
But there was no stopping our service right there. We also distributed free hygiene kits, promoting health and hygiene with items as basic as soap, toothpaste, and shampoo. It was a small move, but a large statement in how we ensured that the children’s health and happiness could be in their best place.
The day also let us distribute grocery packs for Casa Miani. It’s a lifeline to help them feed the children rightfully and continue their efforts in making sure that the house remains a safe haven for all its children.
Finally, at the end of the day, we shared a snack of Jollibee with the children, which definitely caused their faces to smile and their hearts to laugh, reminding us of what can be obtained from simple acts of kindly gestures.
In reflecting on the day of service at Casa Miani, the group was loaded with appreciation and humility. Our journey was that of togetherness, compassion, and community, as we connected our warmth and light to people who need it the most.
But perhaps the greatest lesson we learned that day was not the services we offered or the gifts we shared; it was about the strength that human connection possesses, the strength of the human spirit, and the power of love and kindness.
For in the arms of Casa Miani, we found not only a home for the children, but also a haven for our souls—a place where hope blossoms, love is abundant, and the true essence of humanity sparkles.
As we leave Casa Miani, we leave with memories of a day whereby we laughed, loved, and saw the old beauty of service. We did this knowing that it was a step towards making a difference in the lives of people who needed it the most.
With grateful hearts, we go, knowing that the service we gave at Casa Miani is the beacon of light that is going to ignite the way for many other people to follow and bring warmth to the world. Hand in hand, we will continue to spread love, kindness, and compassion to many of the people we encounter.
